This is an oldie but a goodie and I thought I’d share it. I heard it many years ago, when I was cramming in as much knowledge as I could as a Health Sci Student at University.
It’s funny how things come back to you and you wonder ‘what if’?
Equation of money
As every physicist knows:
Work Done =Power x Time
And common knowledge dictates that Time is Money, and Knowledge is Power
Substituting that into our formula we get Work Done = Knowledge x Money
If we rearrange the equation we get Money = Work Done/Knowledge
Which basically means that, the more you know, the less $$$ you make. The less you know, the more you make, regardless of how much work is done.
You can take what you like from that…maybe revisit it in a few years.

I ended up doing the whole New Years Eve countdown at Civic Square. We went to a NY’s eve party and then met a friend in town, after walking around and trying to avoid crowded pubs packed with smelly revellers. No mean feat in Courtney Place on NY’s eve.
We didn’t stay up too late, as we had to get up early to head out to Cape Palliser and Lake Ferry, over in the Wairarapa. It’s a beautiful and isolated part of New Zealand, about 2hrs from Wellington. The beach is not beautiful in the golden sands bikini beach sort of way. It’s rocky, windswept and beautiful in it’s own rugged style. The sort of coastline that screams out- don’t fuck with me.
I love it. We spent all day there, mucking around, cycling, eating chips and Ice-Cream, and almost ran out of petrol on the drive back

I spent this Christmas at home. The last one I had back home was three years ago.
It feels so good to be here.
We kept it fairly simple. Just the old Xmas tree and a few presents this year.
I bought mum a watch. She likes it
We had a party boxing day. Here are a few of my friends:
And also spent most of Boxing Day out on the road bike with my best buddy. Here are a few posy shots:
He totally wasted me on the climb to the Wind Turbine:
But I’m not jumping up and down over it:
And I even saw an Emu:
Is that a good sign or something?
I love Christmas!

We’re having a family reunion. Kind of. Although it’s probabably more a pilgrimage to see where we came from. It’s something everybody should do.
My granddad was born in China, but left with my great-grandad to Malaysia when he was ten. There is a family home in Nan’an, near Quanzhou in Fujian Province.
It’s funny how many people assume that because you’re Chinese, you must be from China. None of us have ever been to China. And most of us left Malaysia when I was a kid.
So here I am in Hong Kong. My grandads Sister lives here. She talks in three languages and dialects. Very very fast. And mixes the words. So a sentence will start off in Hokkien, interspersed with Mandarin and Cantonese, some Hakka thrown in, and bit’s of English. Oh, that’s five! I have a job trying to figure out what she’s saying. She has been busy rebuilding the family residence in China. Not that any immediate family reside there, just some distant cousins.
So Hong Kong…..Let me just say it’s one of the busiest places I’ve ever been in. The streets are a swarm of people. The shopping is good. I have been busy stocking up on many things I don’t need! We went to Stanley Park, then had lunch in Kowloon. I attempt to practice my very rusty Cantonese, only to have the shop assistent roll her eyes and talk back to me in English.
Meh. I’ll figure it out by the end of this trip.
