My Patch of Cyberspace, yeah!

" You'll find all sorts of inane ramblings in here. I rave about unicycles, rant at bad drivers, invent new pancake recipes, and occasionally feel the urge to yell into cyberspace. Don't take it too seriously. Unicycle related reports will be found mostly on Adventure Unicyclist (.com). Domains

I’m bummed.

I held a really great domain for many years with the intention of one day doing something interesting with it.  But I let the domain lapse because I gave up on that idea and I didn’t see the point in cybersquatting.

Well, I thought of what I was going to do with it today.  But someones plucked it from cyberspace and well…squatted there.

Bleurgh!

That domain, if you’re interested: www.livejunction.com

In other news, I’ve shifted the SINZ website over to a new host, and so the photo eating gremlins which plagued the old site will hopefully be gone!  I still have a few things to tidy up on the SINZ website…including putting up some old news articles and photos.  Keep an eye out over the coming weeks.

WordPress 2.7

Well, those of you who have been visiting my blog for the last couple of days would have noticed that it looked somewhat fucked up. That’s because it was, more or less, somewhat fucked up.

It all started innnocently when I upgraded to the latest version of WordPress, set up a gallery (a work in progress), and inadvertently did something rather stupid. I won’t tell you what it is, because many of you who read this blog are unicyclists, and we all know that 90% of unicyclists are computer programmers or IT geeks. So you’d laugh at me. But trust me, it was way ’sthupid’.

I’ve just spent the last few hours digging around php code, yelling at my computer, on the WordPress forums, stamping up and down, ftping this and that, and finally it’s up and running again. One of these days when I quit my day job I’ll actually learn how to do this properly.

The golden rule: back up your work

Followed closely by: make sure you computer has enough grunt to unzip the file.

Unfortunately I had neither.

*******
And on a brighter note, it’s almost that time of year again.

That big red fulla is due to climb down my chimney any minute now.

And I’ve been a very good boy this year (insert boyish glee emote).

Goodnight!
